It uses heated glass to toast bread to perfection. Inventables, the design company behind this masterpiece, says that currently the glass doesn't get hot enough to toast bread, but maybe in the future.

Transparent toaster allows you to see the bread while it is toasting so you never surprised by toast that comes out too dark. This idea is based on the transparent heating glass featured in this issue. Although the glass does not currently get hot enough to toast bread, some day this application may be possible.

Coffee and espresso machines are now available so that you can have coffeehouse quality coffee drinks in the comfort of your own home. The latest trend is toward coffee makers that make individual cups of coffee using pods, or small airtight packages that stay sealed until opened by the coffeemaker. In Europe these have been popular for a while, and they will get you close to a European coffee experience. The coffee tends to be strong, more like espresso, but is very fresh since your serving stays sealed until you make it, unlike that big tub of Folgers. They are more common now, but finding the pods can still be difficult sometimes, and you may not have as many varieties available to you as there are for regular old ground coffee.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com

Toaster all about you need

By comparison, toaster ovens are small electric ovens with a door on one side and a tray within. To toast bread with a toaster oven, one lays down slices of bread horizontally on the tray, closes the door, and activates the toaster, usually by means of a lever. When the toast is done, the toaster turns off, but the door must be opened manually. Toaster ovens are capable of performing most of the functions of ordinary ovens, but on a much smaller scale.

In the past, the completion of the toasting operation was determined by a mechanical timer; the user could adjust the running time of the timer to determine the degree of "doneness" of the toast, but the first cycle produced less toasted toast than subsequent cycles because the toaster was not yet warmed up. Newer toasters use a thermal device in close proximity to the toast. This allows the first cycle to run longer than subsequent cyclces. The thermal device is also slightly responsive to the actual temperature of the toast itself. Like the timer, it can be adjusted by the user to determine the doneness of the toast.

As with so many home appliances, the fanciest toaster ovens now use computer controls instead of electromechanical controls.

Toasters are usually freestanding, counter-top appliances, although some toaster ovens may be hung beneath cabinets.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com We do have a toaster oven, but I've often found we just don't get the toasted toast we want. This Oyster toater oven touts longer slots for longer bread. Waiting 5 minutes for my toast to cook is too long! The toaster cooks food faster because it has an infrared light system, which eliminates the need to preheat. It also has preset buttons that automatically calculate the cooking time for a variety of foods.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com

Original Source : http://www.kitchencontraptions.com/

This transparent toaster allows you to see the bread while it is toasting so you never surprised by toast that comes out too dark. This idea is based on the transparent heating glass featured in this issue. Although the glass does not currently get hot enough to toast bread, some day this application may be possible

We're suckers for a good piece of toast, and this concept design would be able to make every piece of toast perfect. It uses heated glass to toast bread to perfection. Inventables, the design company behind this masterpiece, says that currently the glass doesn't get hot enough to toast bread, but maybe in the future.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com
Original Source : http://www.kitchencontraptions.com/

Four Slice Wide Mouth Toaster

This is the best four slice wide mouth toaster because it earned the highest marks in the Hammacher Schlemmer Institutes tests for consistency of toasting, toasting quality, ease of use, ease of cleaning, and useful features. (Hey, the drive-through breakfast experience in your own kitchen!) It uses steam to poach a single egg in a shallow pan or soft- or hard-boil as many as four eggs in a rack. It can make toast at the same time.

What we thought: "Back to Basics," our Aunt Frannie. This gizmo is an awful lot to deal with first thing in the morning. The manufacturer instructs you to spray the poaching pan with nonstick cooking spray, break an egg into it and then break its yolk with a fork (so it will have that authentic mass-produced drive-through breakfast sandwich quality). Then you measure water into the heating tray, insert the steaming tray and set the poaching pan on that and top it with the optional meat-warming tray. Finally, you put the lid on the egg gadget and insert your bread in the toast slots.

Still, it works (although the center of the slice gets decidedly browner than the edges), and it's cleverly timed so that the poached egg, warmed meat and toast are all ready at the same moment. (You can't make toast while steam-boiling eggs, though.) It might be useful in a dorm room.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com

Original Source : http://news.cincypost.com/

Toasters - how do you make your toast?

Toasters are one of the most useful kitchen appliances, and at the same time also one of the simplest. You put bread in the top, push the lever, and a few minutes later it pops up: toast! The most basic toasters are very cheap indeed, and worth every penny for all the use you can get out of them. However, unlike with many appliances, you will see visible improvements for every extra little bit of money you spend on your toaster. You can go from two slices at a time to four, from two minutes' cooking time to one, get a bun rack for toasting things like croissants, get the capability to toast frozen bread, extra lift to allow you to toast smaller things like crumpets and muffins, and all sorts of other features besides.

Whether or not you need these features will generally depend on what you want to toast: if you just want toasted bread, you should be fine with a normal toaster, but if you want to toast all sorts of bread products, you start needing some other features, especially the extra lift and the bun rack. It can also be difficult to find the exact combination of features you want in a colour and design you would like, but don't give up: just about every combination is out there somewhere.

One thing to be aware of with toasters is that, if toast or something else somehow gets stuck, you should never try to remove it with a metal knife or other metal object, because they conduct electricity and can lead to an electric shock. You should also make sure to keep the toaster away from water, and be careful not to use frozen bread unless the toaster is capable of it. Another popular kind of toaster is the sandwich toaster, which differs from the usual slot toaster in that you put in more slices of bread, usually four, with things in between, and they then become sandwiches. This can be especially effective if you use things that will melt, like cheese, in the sandwiches - the traditional toaster's inability to melt things onto the toast has long been considered a disadvantage.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com
Original Source : http://www.goarticles.com/

Small Home Appliances: Way Beyond Toasters

As the trend toward gourmet, chef quality kitchens continues, people are purchasing not only high end large appliances like refrigerators and stoves, but small appliances too. Simple old fashioned coffee pots and toasters are giving way to espresso machines and panini grills. Do you need them? Probably not, but they can be lots of fun and can definitely up the quality of your morning cup of joe and your grilled cheese sandwiches. Read on for all the things you didn't know you needed, until you found out they existed.

What could be better than the promise of a grilled hamburger on a snowy February day? Indoor grills are becoming more and more popular both because grilled food tastes good, and because grilling can be a fast and relatively healthy cooking method. If you are looking to add one to your kitchen stable, here are some factors you'll want to look at. One is size, at both ends of the spectrum. If you live alone or with one other person, a smaller grill will probably suit your needs just fine and take up less space, unless you intend to use it for entertaining. If you have a large family, you could spend the whole evening cooking burgers on a smaller grill like the original George Foremans. A feature that is available on most newer grills is variable heat, which makes your grill much more versatile. Removable plates that are dishwasher safe also make your grill much easier to use and increase the likelihood that they will be used often. Some of the grills with removable plates also come with several sets of plates so your grill can double as a waffle iron or electric griddle as well.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com

Original Source : http://www.goarticles.com/

Slate tackles toasters

Toasters have been around for more than 100 years and the Slate took on the task of testing eight toasters to see which one was really the toast of the town. Using a highly scientific scale which judged toasting quality, ease of use, cleanup and value, the toasters were put to the test. After too many loaves of bread to count, the results were in.

The high-end toasters like the DeLonghi Aluminum 2-Slice and the KitchenAid Pro Line 2-Slice finished with the best scores, though they were low in the "value" category. Generally, the less expensive toasters, like the T-Fal Avanté Deluxe 4-Slice and Michael Graves 2-Slice, did not perform as well as their more expensive counterparts.Their list is a great way to start a toaster search, but Cooking.com and Amazon.com's customer reviews also provide great feedback.

Toaster Information Posted By: Blueshoots.com

Original Source : http://www.slashfood.com

Dualit Lite Toaster - Glacier Blue

A lighter version of the classic toaster with a polypropylene body and Soft Touch® finish. They need regular attention to keep them clean, shiny, and crumb-free. Here's what you should do:

Remember to unplug the toaster and let it cool before cleaning it. Never immerse the toaster in water.

Wipe the exterior of the <a href="http://www.blueshoots.com/products.asp?subcategory=Toasters&category=Kitchen", target="_blank">toaster regularly. Prior to the development of the electric toaster, bread was sometimes toasted by placing it in a metal frame and holding it over a fire.

Modern toasters are typically one of two varieties: pop-up toasters and toaster ovens.

In pop-up toasters, the bread is inserted vertically into slots (generally only large enough to admit a single slice of bread) on the top of the toaster. A lever on the side of the toaster is depressed, activating the toaster. When an internal device determines that the toasting cycle is complete, the toaster turns off and the toast pops up out of the slots. The heating elements of a pop-up toaster are oriented vertically, parallel to the bread.

If toast is stuck in a toaster (which is more likely to happen with a pop-up toaster) it is highly recommended that one does not attempt to free it by inserting metal objects such as knives, due to the risk of electric shock.

Toaster Information Posted By : Blueshoots.com
